KiwiLane DT Doodles Week # 50

This is my entry for the KiwiLane DT Doddles Week # 50.  The following is the weekly sketch and then my 2-page layout which I used papers from the Fancy Pants 'Saint Nick' line. 

 

 

I especially like the photo templates.  I can position them on the picture and see thru them to know where to cut.

KiwiLane DT Doodles-2013 Week 45

We have been iced in so I decided to enter the DT Doodles for this week.  The following is this weeks sketch:

I used some Graphic 45 papers and made the following 2-page layout:

Because of the cyber sale that KiwiLane was having last week, I was able to buy the large brackets and the Paisley Place templates.

Anna's new bench

This is the bench I saw in my grand-daughter's hot pink and green bedroom.  It just didn't go with her decor.
I had bought a remnant at Warehousefabricsinc.com.  Their remnants are half price and I can buy good quality decorator fabric at a good price and they have been offering $4.95 shipping which is great for heavy fabric.  The fabric I had was called Retro pink and green.  The following is a picture of the fabric

The following pictures show the progress of making the slipcover.

As you can see, I added cording which always adds to the finished slipcover.

I lined the entire slipcover.  Just seems to hang better when I use a lining.

I took it to Anna's house on Tuesday and when she came home from school she thanked me for her new bench.

I used the following templates:

My next purchase is going to be the large Brackets templates.  These templates would be used often.

Also, regular accents templates were used and I don't see that they are for sale anymore.  I also like the idea of having the mat templates.  I also think they would be useful in designing the layouts.

October weather makes me want to create!

We have had wonderful weather this year of 2013.  The mild weather has kept me enjoying the outdoors and all the many activities of summer.  Now, the cooler weather is making me want to be creative again, so I decided to participate in KiwiLane's DT Doodles-2013 Week 41.  The templates are always fun to use.  And I can always just use papers that I have in my stash.

The following are the templates that we were asked to use:

I'm sorry to say that I do not have all of these templates, but KiwiLane says that is okay.
I used the following templates in my 2 page layout:

I'm always happy with the outcome of my layouts using the KiwiLane templates.

Embellished Box

This box was a box that was being thrown away and I asked if I could have it.  This was a very easy project that took me 3 days.

First, I primed the box with Kilz2 latex.

Since many of my scrapbook storage containers are hot pink and dark purple, I used Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paint Purple as the base paint coat.  I used two coats of this paint and used the majority of the bottle.

I then chose a heavier double sided paper from Webster's pages and cut to fit all around the outside of the box.  I only had to use 1 sheet of the paper.  It went on very easily and there were no bubbles.

Finally, I found some Webster Page's embellishments and floral jewels to decorate the front of the box.
I also put one coat of Mod Podge on the outside of the box, but I'm not sure that this last step is necessary.

Kiwilane DT Doodles 2013 #20

The following is the sketch for the DT Doodles #20:

I used the following templates:  Abbie Road 1A, 1B; Sweetheart 1T, 4T; Accents 1T and Shapes 3T.  Also I used Technique Tuesday 'Live in the Moment' stamp.  I recently bought October Afternoon's Sasparilla collection kit and used it for this project.  The paper pad was 8"x8" so I had to do some paper piecing which is a fun technique that I enjoy.  This paper was so appropiate for my little cowboy.

A couple of months ago, I bought the Sasparilla kit that October Afternoon was selling on their website.  I knew I had some pictures of my grandson that would be perfect for this collection of paper and embellishments.  The following 2-page layouts were fun to make.  I just am having a hard time taking good pictures to display.  Hopefully, practice makes perfect.

Entry in Kiwilane's DT Doodles

A couple of years ago, Carrie and I attended a scrapbook convention in Arlington, TX and discovered KiwiLane.  I have been a collector of their templates since then.  I decided to enter the DT Doodles-2013, week 19 and this is the sketch:

The following is my finished 2-page layout using the following templates:  Floral 1T, Sweetheart 1T and 4T, Tags 3, Abbie Road 1A-1B-3A-3B, and Accents 6T.  I also had a dragonfly Technique Tuesday stamp that I received in a class at the scrapbook convention mentioned above.  Since I have also been a collector of Technique Tuesday stamps, thanks to my daughter, Carrie, I used 'My Little Princess' stamp.

Well, I won the Craftysteals 3rd Thursday Challenge drawing.  This is what I received in the mail.  I have been wanting Teresa Collins Everyday Moments and the package included 3 of her products.  What a great surprise!

Made this layout for Craftysteals.com, 3rd Thursday sketch.  I used papers I've had a long time for the background.  Added a feather and my old standby, the gemstone strips.  Used Stickles on the letters.  The gemstone strips don't look all that straight in the picture but looks good to me in person.  Love these two special people.

My latest project was to decorate an old wreath that I had.  I wrapped fabric around the wreath and added flowers made from scraps of cardstock.  I used Spellbinders Spiral Blossom Four die cut to make the flowers.  Then I sprayed them with a craft sealer.  I also added a strip of green mesh rhinestones.

4TH LAYOUT

My 4th layout is Audrey.  Not a very good picture of the layout.  At the bottom is a label with her name, but I didn't want to dispaly her name.  I used a Kiwi Lane template and some old paper.  The other pictures are of a small album that Carrie taught me how to make several years ago.  I don't know why it has taken me so long to finish.  I just matted the pictures with orange paper.  Was able to use many pictures of Chris and others.  I'm very happy with the result. 

3rd layout

In this layout with a picture of Liam, I used Kiwi Lane templates for the background.  The die cuts were ones I had left over from some kits.  I also made some of the round die cuts using embossing powder.  I also have a picture of the jelly jars that I used to put my buttons in.  My daughter gave me this idea of painting the lid and adding cabinet door knobs.  I just happened to have these knobs underneath one of my beds.

As I said in my last post, I am using products that I already have.  This layout # 2 is using leftover Christmas paper.  I have now used all of the old Christmas paper that I have had for several years.  It feels so good to use what has been stashed away.

This year I am going to use the supplies that I have collected since I started scrapbooking.  I've pledged that I will create pages using the items that are available to me in my scrapbooking closet.  This is the first layout this year using paper that I received about 2 years ago in a kit.  It was some extra papers that were included in the kit.
